SKY-FRAME VIRTUAL HOUSE BY OPPENHEIM ARCHITECTURE

Architecture starts with a vision, but how does a space feel before it is built? How does light behave when the boundaries between inside and outside dissolve? In partnership with Oppenheim Architecture in Basel, we have developed an answer: the Sky-Frame virtual house.

What does a room feel like before it’s built?

On your screen, an immersive world unfolds where you can experience the essence of our frameless sliding windows and doors firsthand. No catalogue images, no static renderings, just a walkable space that demonstrates the fusion of interior and exterior. The Infinite Sky-Frame is more than just a presentation; it is an invitation to feel the transformative power of boundless spaces.

«It’s that balance between the virtual and the reality, which, in the end, is also what we’re creating through a virtual room. We’re leading to the reality.»

Beat Huesler

Two worlds, one floor plan: The virtual house exists in two locations. By the beach, where the expanse of the sea merges with the living space, and in the Alps, where majestic mountain scenery becomes an integral part of the interior. The same floor plan reveals two completely different moods, with interiors adapting to each environment as if the landscape were part of the design from the beginning. In the beach house, horizontal lines dominate. The sea stretches endlessly, and the sky merges with the water, while the frameless glass fronts dissolve any barriers between the living space and this infinity. Here, the interior breathes lightness, characterised by bright tones, clear lines, and light-reflecting materials, inviting in the salty breeze. The luxury of letting go feels tangible, and there is a sense of freedom to surrender to the rhythm of the waves.

In contrast, the Alpine setting transforms the space. The verticality of the peaks shapes the environment, bringing the grandeur of the mountains close. Yet the lightness remains, as the Sky-Frame systems create openings that bring the monumental indoors. The interior becomes warmer and more earthy without sacrificing elegance. Wood, stone, and textile surfaces create an atmosphere that blends shelter with expansiveness, while the mountains become a painting that reinvents itself daily. What unites both scenarios is the experience of dissolution. Where does the space end, and where does the landscape begin? These questions lose significance when architecture itself provides the answer. Sky-Frame does not create windows that merely offer a view; instead, it creates openings that integrate the view into the space.

«Is it enough to make something just nice and elegant? […] probably nice is no longer enough. You need to break boundaries to become visible and travel the world.»

Rasem Kamal

The virtual house allows you to engage with this philosophy, illustrating how light behaves, how spaces breathe, and how architecture evokes emotion. For architects, it serves as a source of inspiration; for clients, a moment of anticipation; and for everyone else, a glimpse into the possibilities of contemporary living. Experience what arises when boundaries cease to exist—and discover how your own vision could take shape within this limitless framework.
