Story
In her welcoming speech at the ceremony, Kristiane Vietze, President of the Thurgau Chamber of Industry and Commerce, emphasised that Sky-Frame has remained loyal to Thurgau as a location since moving into its new headquarters in Frauenfeld 10 years ago, even though the company has since developed into a leading global supplier of frameless sliding window systems with branches in London, Los Angeles, Milan, Vienna and Rothrist. ‘Sky-Frame products are more than just windows – they create a new architectural dimension by seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. In doing so, they set global standards in design, innovation and quality,’ said Vietze.
A global innovation as the basis for success
‘Building an international company with 150 employees from a product that you don't actually see – very few people would be able to do that,’ said Stephan Hürlemann, CEO of Stephan Hürlemann Design GmbH, with a wink during his laudatory speech. With Sky-Frame, company founder and former CEO Beat Guhl succeeded in ‘reinventing the window: the focus is not on the frame, but on the view.’ He emphasised the crucial role played by Beat Guhl in the company's success, who worked tirelessly on the Sky-Frame product until he had developed the world's first certified thermally separated metal sliding window. He praised the founder not only for his extraordinary entrepreneurial achievements, but also for his human qualities as an approachable leader. Hürlemann also highlighted the role of Beat's wife, Karin Guhl, who had encouraged and supported him as a business partner throughout the years. On 1 July, the founder handed over the operational management of the company to the new CEO, Angelo Razzino.
Unanimous selection of Sky-Frame by the jury
Thomas Koller, President of the award jury and Chairman of the TKB Executive Board, emphasised at the award ceremony that Sky-Frame had been selected unanimously by the jury and that the company fulfilled all the criteria for nomination: It demonstrated loyalty to the Thurgau region, created regional jobs, had a brand and a product with great appeal, and stood out for its commitment to sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship. Koller is also convinced that Sky-Frame is well equipped for the future.
Thanks also go to his companions
Beat Guhl gratefully accepted the award – but immediately passed on his thanks to his wife Karin, his long-standing companions, the management of Sky-Frame and the employees: ‘Without the support of this team, I would not be where I am today.’ He wished the newly constituted management team all the best for the future. Finally, Diana Gutjahr, President of the Thurgau Trade Association, emphasised: ‘The innovative strength, technical expertise and attitude to life that the Sky-Frame brand embodies are palpable here at the headquarters in Frauenfeld and make Thurgau visible worldwide.’
