Beyond the Glass
Women in Architecture - A Second Chapter

Architecture begins with intention. But somewhere between school and leadership, too many women are quietly pushed out of the story. There’s even a term describing this phenomenon - the industry calls it a leaky pipeline. Women in Architecture II is not just a film - it’s a lens into what’s lost when that pipeline breaks. And what’s possible when it’s challenged.

Follow Dorte Mandrup and Tosin Oshinowo - two architects working worlds apart, yet united in how they shape space with power, care, and conviction. From the Arctic to Lagos, their work goes beyond aesthetic - it reshapes who gets seen, heard, and remembered in architecture. Alongside ArchDaily’s David Basulto, the film dives into urgent questions: Why are so few women leading in design? What happens when we stop fitting into structures and start redesigning them?

"At Switzerland's leading architecture schools ETH and EPFL, 55% of bachelor students are women, yet this drops to 45% in master's programs—revealing that women begin leaving architecture before they even enter the profession."

"Architecture's talent drain follows a predictable pattern: from 45% of students, to 30-35% entering the profession, dropping to 20-25% in senior roles, and only 10% achieving professional recognition."

"When nearly 9 out of 10 female architects feel penalized for having families, the profession loses experienced women precisely when their expertise and leadership are most needed."

Their voices are not alone. At a recent Harvard screening, students, faculty, and architects gathered to confront the leadership gap and imagine a future built with more inclusion—and fewer apologies. Sky-Frame supports this campaign not just as a sponsor, but as a facilitator. We believe in creating space - physically, socially, and professionally - for those long overlooked in the industry. Watch the film. Share the message. And stay with us as we explore how architecture can reflect more than ambition - it can and should reflect all of us.

Why it's Important to us

“Architecture is more than just building – it’s an expression of vision and values. At Sky-Frame, we believe true innovation only happens when different voices are heard. Women in Architecture highlights women who have often been overlooked but shape our built world with passion and courage. It’s important to us that these stories are made visible – not as exceptions, but as a lived reality. Because only then can architecture truly reflect the diversity our society needs.”
