self – highly-insulated residential unit with Sky-Frame

Self was developed as part of a diploma thesis, the main focus being on dealing with limited resources.

Thanks to so-called vacuum insulation panels (VIP), better insulation is provided than in modern house construction (U-value 0.15 W/m2*K) in spite of having lightweight construction.

The use of Sky-Frame clearly shows the insulating quality of the window and the energy that is saved by having a large proportion of glass. Double insulating glass with Ug=0.5 W/m2K was used.
